Baby and Children Clothes Shopping for the Special Occasion

I believe there is a perfect outfit for every event, and I love helping people find the most excellent one for their Sweet Pea. There are many events each year that require a special touch of elegance and a few events in life that beseech the absolute best in fashion.

The tradition of bringing home baby in a classic smocked dress, collared romper or elegant gown makes for keepsake pictures, wonderful memories, and beautiful heirlooms. I believe they create an even more memorable event from the already special homecoming.

The next exceptional occasion in baby's life will more than likely be of the ceremonial type; such as: baby's Christening/Naming/Dedication/Brit Milah (or Bris). Many people choose traditional gowns for these sacramental occasions. There are a variety of styles for these gowns, but the most popular are the time-honored, delicately-fashioned, robe-style gowns. They come in shades of white and ivory and are made of beautifully crafted materials from hand crocheted lace to Dupioni silk.

Formal events such as weddings require that the child's attire matches the theme. If the event is in the summer and is outdoors a linen suit would be organic children's clothing appropriate for a little boy and a sleeveless cotton-blend dress will help keep a little girl from becoming overheated. While indoor celebrations have the tendency to be reserved and somewhat cooler in temperature; therefore, a beautiful polyester-blend jacketed suit or short-sleeved dress with tulle-style netting is perfect.

First Communion and Bar/Bat Mitzvah (and other religious ceremonies) that celebrate a coming of age create an opportunity for adolescents to express personal style and maturity. Girls dress in beautiful gowns (often with empire waists) and boys in handsome pant suits (with striking ties). It is often appropriate for the girls to wear cardigans with their dress to maintain a more reserved and respectable look.

Spring holidays are a time for celebrating renewal and rebirth of the season. With the spring comes special religious holidays like Easter and Passover. There are many different styles of dresses for girls to wear for these holy days. Most are ballerina or ankle length and may have straps or cap-sleeves. Many incorporate floral embellishments in proclamation of the change of season. Girls and boys wears alike, may be dyed to mimic the colors of blossoming flowers and nature unfolding.

Halloween is the opportunity to help your child express their inner selves and personal fashion. They can show others who they aspire to be, or divulge their beautifully imaginative minds. There are many different costumes to help them do so.

Thanksgiving and semi-formal events lend the opportunity to express quirkiness in a fashion-forward way. Boys can dress up by wearing khakis and a collared shirt with a patterned bow-tie, while a girl can wear a funky dress with beading or rhinestone crystals.

Winter holidays like Christmas, Chanukah/Hanukkah, and New Year's Eve are opportunities for your child to dress in elegant wear, whether you choose simple chic or the more elaborate design is all in preference. Due to the climate of winter in most areas, your child will probably need a heavier tailored jacket or bolero to complete their outfit and keep them warm.

Birthday parties are a great opportunity for your child to wear the latest in haute couture. Pettiskirts and dresses with "tulle" are very feminine, very youthful, and VERY popular for girls. Birthday rompers with patchwork and crocheted designs are very "in," also. Birthday crowns and hats are all the rage. They have been designed to make your child sparkle on their special day.
